Petra is a risk communication expert with a strong background in humanities and medicine. She holds an MA in communication and completed her PhD in cultural and political sciences (HU Berlin & ETH Zurich) with interdisciplinary research on biosecurity. She is also a medical doctor by training (MBBS with full licence to practice) and did her medical doctoral research (MD) in the field of CBRN threats and their impact on public perception (King's College London & University Hospital Frankfurt).
Petra has held positions at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, the University Hospital Frankfurt (Department of Infectious Diseases) and at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); she is now undertaking research in international health policy, health security and the methodologies of a new risk communication paradigm. Her particular interest is in the measurement of outcomes and impact of risk communication.
For her international clients she has developed a variety of analytical tools that support the reflection process and initiate innovative solutions that she applies in her risk communication trainings, One Health workshops and Ebola Intensified Preparedness Programme.
